The recent forecast for a record Fall Chinook run has been working on my imagination.  Welcome to my madness.

Nice video Spot.  Loved it.  I too am dreaming of Fall Chinook, but I am not picky and would welcome a coho or two. ;)

   Inspiring video Spot,

  Bring on them salmons...
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

So I've been wondering, with the large prediction of incoming; does that mean the odds of catching in the ocean will be drastically higher as well? Or are the catch rates the main predictor and because ocean fisherman have been doing well, statistians(sp?) are predicting a massive run?

Oh and thanks for stoking the fire with the vid.
My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

Targeting salmon in the ocean should be a very good idea this year given the predictions.  I think I read that they are predicting these numbers based on "favorable ocean conditions" and the fact that they think there should be a higher number of 4 salt fish returning, since last year saw a high number of 3 salt fish.  As you can imagine, that means the average fish should be bigger for this run.  :toothy10:

Thanks guys!  This is what happens when I sit home nursing a nasty cold all weekend.

As rawky said, targeting these fish in the salt is a very good idea.  Even the Tules cut nice when you catch em in the salt.  Expect to see them showing up in the nearshore ocean by the beginning of June.
