I was just wondering if I am missing the open invite section of the forum.  If there is not one then why not?  I for one would be interested due to the fact I don't think I would go out in the ocean alone, well not anytime soon.

We just generally throw a shout out  on the forum, but still a good idea.

There are not a lot of Ocean open invites. Where are you located? The best thing to do is send a PM to the guys that go out pretty often or attend one of the meetup events. Guys generally want to know that you can handle yourself and that you're not going to show up in jeans and rain jacket.

If you ever see me posting a date for an upcoming trip, consider it an open invite.  I fish by myself most of the time so some company every now and then doesn't hurt.

I prefer the flex seal myself  "I put that **** on everything" jk no but seriously I live out by forest grove I don't have a kayak yet but that is why I am here asking lots of questions so I make the right choices.  I will not go out in any water without a drysuit and pfd period.  As far as handling myself in the ocean I haven't been in the ocean on the pacific side nor have I performed a surf launch quite like the ones we are faced with on this side of the island.  I guess when the time comes Ill throw a shout out if anyone will be willing to show a noob the ropes when it comes to the ocean.

I am planning on hitting Depoe Bay next time the ocean lays down (might be April at this rate!). It is nice for a beginner since you don't need to worry about a surf launch. I'll keep you in mind.

Following up on Noah's suggestions...  Check out the Springer clinic being hosted by Next Adventure, Nate, and Spot next week.  Should be a great opportunity to meet a some forum members.

Also, the local Heroes on the Water group will be putting together some outings this spring/summer.  I was able to take advantage of that last year to not only help introduce kayak fishing to some great veterans, but also as a way to interact with and get to know others here!  If you can, step up and help out!

I was planning on going to the springer seminar if work allows it.  I'll be letting the boss know I won't be working late that day.
