Anyone here fish tidewater in wilson or trask  and or t-bay for salmon and steel, maybe sturgeon.  Any experience launching  from memaloose and fishing around that area or  is that pretty much a pb, db show.

I've launched in Tillamook Bay at Bay City, right next to the Pacific Seafoods dock, there is a gravel launch that puts you right out in the slot where the powerboats troll for salmon.

As for Tidewater on the Wilson and Trask, there are a handful of bridges that cross the rivers, and the bridges are not private property, so there are a few trails that you can drag your kayak along side the bridge and get in there.  Check the tide books and make sure you are hitting the incoming tide.

Tillamook Bay has so many places to launch it's ridiculous.  Memaloose is easy access and allows you both tidewater and Tillamook / Trask river access.  There are multiple slides at the point next to the Ghost hole as well.
If you have a buddy to shuttle with, you can put in at the 5th street boat ramp and Sollie Smith and fish several hot spots thru tidewater.  It's like disneyland.

I heard there was a "special" rig for fishing Tillamook Bay area, specifically to protect the bait and flashers from excessive amounts of seaweed that can foul your gear.  Any comments or pics of a tilly-setup that someone would be willing to share?

The main method is to do a weed check your setup about every 15 min or so.  You can put all the stuff in the world on your setup(golf tee heads, bead chain swivel covers, etc. ) to try and keep the weeds off, but they'll still be some that will grab your rig no matter how hard you try.  Fishing during softer tidal exchanges also helps a lot.

The only "special rig" I have seen in Tillamook bay is to rig without any flasher.  Cannon ball sinker, a few bead chain swivels, and a mooching rig.  I've also seen guys trolling both brined and unbrined herring.  Frequent bait checking is also important.  Water is shallow, so it's not a big deal.

I only started last season in Tillamook Bay, and have been watching and learning as I go.   I pay close attention to the guide boats, amount of lead, speed, and mark on my fish finder the slots they frequent, as they give me  curious and crazy look as I cruise by them.

No real secrets, outside of time on the water, bait on the bottom with a good tight spin, and a little luck.
