Just checking out some new stuff I might try for salmon this year and came across these.  They look like they might be easier to troll with a yak than the other flashers and still produce good action on a hootchie.

Anyone try them?

I'm sure they work. I just wanted to say that i have had no problems trolling any flasher with the kayak.

I've had line twist issues trolling flashers. Use Sampo swivels.

I agree. Typically my advice is fewr connections equals fewer failing points. But when trolling flashers I try to use bead chains in several spots and sampo, spro, or other high end swivels.

These flashers do look interesting. Wonder if YouTube has anything in the action.

Here's a video. Not sure I like the action but that's irrelevant...lol. Only the fish needs too!!  I was thinking this can't be drag free and upon closer inspection it's drag free when a "fish is on". Not necessarily bad thing. My understanding is more drag means more water moved which in turns sends out "pressure waves and vibrations" that also attract fish.

I like the small size. But I've got do many flashers that are proven, it might be a while before I get to them. Lol.

Intuitively it seems like this would be easier to pull than say an 8" or 11" flasher.  That may not be the case but it seems like it would.
Even if it is just a little bit easier to pull a person might be able to achieve the action needed with a slower average speed.  For paddlers that might be useful.

Totally agree on the chain swivels.  I also learned a trick of putting a small syringe (female part cut the ears off) on the line prior to the swivel. That covers the swivel and keeps the sea weed out of it.  You can get them cheep or free from a local drug store.  If you are not unwashed and have most of your teeth they might even believe you use them for fishing. ;D

Why. Why, why, why?!  Why do people leave their clicker on while they're fighting a fish!?!?

They like the exciting sound it makes!

I would like to see some underwater footage.  But I will probably give it a go.  If for no other reason than to present something a little different.

Lol. I'm guilty of that.

When using downriggers or heavy weights it keeps things from backlashing. While fishing you can hear the strike. Now to your question, when I'm fighting a fish and  I shoot video, especially with a waterproof housing, I think it adds more reference as to how much line the fish is peeling out when it takes off.
