Thinking about moving to the Vancouver, WA area next year so thought I would say hello. I have been fishing my whole life and spent 10 years fishing pelagics in SCAL and another 10 years fly fishing NCAl. Then I started kayak fishing in NCAL 10 years ago and then you know what happens.  ;D I fish to eat these days as cooking is one of my other hobbies. I also build my own rods and make my own lures which keeps me busy in the winter.

Most of the year I fish the ocean for salmon, rockfish/lingcod, halibut, yellowtail and white sea bass. Some of you may have read the article I wrote on white sea bass fishing on NCKA. I am a Heroes on the Water guide for our local chapter and have had good success getting vets on fish. During the winter I usually fish for trout on the local lakes. I fish with my Golden Retriever, Molly. She always has my back and lets me know if there are any white sharks following us. Hopefully will fish with you next year.

Life is good.

   Welcome to NWKA Scott.

I lived in the east Bay Area for ten years (Hayward,SLZ,San Leandro) then moved to Washington in 1979--best move I ever did.
Danville isn't too bad--but I'd think you'll like it up this way.
You're already dialed in for our fishing.......
If you get up this way on a scouting mission...give a shout out....someone can probably get you out on the water. We have a pretty friendly group.

Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Molly is a lot calmer than our two Goldens….   Looks like you're both enjoying it!

Welcome to the site! Lots of great options in all directions of Vancouver BC. Good salt options about two hours west. Make the move, you won't regret it!

Welcome aboard. I saw some pics that Danglin posted of you at the last NorCal HOW event. Was that a trout? Biggun! We have a WA and PDX HOW Chapters here. You'll be close by to the PDX guys if you're looking to participate or volunteer. The WA chapter is a bit of a drive but you're more than welcome to join us too. Tight Lines

Yes Molly does salt but no surf launches. I use the AI with one ama and trampoline and Molly hangs out on the tramp. Here a pic of Molly with a pair of 20# chromers on Monterey Bay.

Welcome Scott!  Look forward to meeting you.  Your posts on NCKA have helped a lot of people figure out this sport, especially AI owners like me!

Well it's official. Sold my house and bought a new one in Camas, WA. Yeah, I don't want to hear that Camas smells bad BS. LOL Looking forward to fishing with you all and will try to make it to ORC. Should be moved in in time for albies and the fall chinook run. Would like to hook up with the PDX HOW crew and Hobie Island Club. Life is good.

Looks like Molly knows how to catch the salmon .... Now that's on good girl. My dachshund is way to wired at a little over a year old to be on the boat yet.
