Lookin' to fill up my AOTY bracket w/ some more variety. Looking for the LMB, SMB, perch, crappie, and maybe even a trout upgrade day. Looking for the warmest day this weekend so will wait until Fri. to make the call. Anyone interested, come on down.

Are you thinking morning, afternoon, or evening?  By the way Z, where are you thinking of launching from?

Most likely morning around Newport.

Was supposed to head down to Hood River ... but plans change.  Thinking about launching first thing in the morning Saturday from the launch under the I-90 bridge on the east side of Mercer Island.  Will be rigged to troll the Mercer Channel for cutthroat.  Will make one pass down and if I make it as far as the Barbee Mill area (3-4 miles down), will fish that area for bass/crappie, then up to Newport Shores, fish that are for bass/crappie.  Unless someone has a better idea ... I'm pretty flexible.

So... is it Saturday, Sunday, or both now?  Saturday definitely works better for me and I am only getting one day of furlow from the wife this weekend.

Is this where you are launching from Allen? (sorry, I can't figure out how to embed the actual map... so here's a link)

I'm looking at Saturday.

That's not where I was thinking of launching, but if it's free, then lets launch there.  The other spot was a pay to launch place.

I just may make it Sat. also to join in on the fun. Nice find on the free launch spot YJ. Just incase that place doesn't work we can use Newcastle Beach Park as a backup.

From the sat photo it looks like there's ample parking.  I think I'll do a dry run this evening on my way home from the office to check it out and see if it is still there.  You never know with some of the sat photos on Google.  :-\  I have found a lot of places using the sat maps that look like virgin, undeveloped fishing holes only to find it is now private with an entire neighborhood surrounding it.  :BangHead:

In case that spot doesn't work out, what does the Newport launch cost?

I won't be anywhere near there, but sounds like a fun day. I used to fish down there when I was  kid, out of my 7' dinghy, in the mid-1960's.
As far as sat photos, sometimes you can check another provider and get photos that have better resolution. Google Earth has been relying on Digital Globe for their photos, but are now starting to use some from GeoEye, DG's only competitor. Yahoo maps has been using GeoEye.  In my area, for example the Elk River Estuary, the Yahoo maps from GeoEye have much better resolution than Google Earth. Other places the reverse may be true.

LOL, I found the same thing from those Dept of Ecology shoreline aerial photos....most of them were taken by plane in 1996 and '97....went to explore a point in northern Hood Canal that looked to be good for searun cutts and found a cluster of new homes and all the beach access private. ???

I'm headed to Sequim to visit my folks for Fathers Day. Taking the kayoe and plan to use it somewhere around there and/or on the way back.  Good fishing to all!

Is this the weekend you knock me down?  You've got good weather, a fishing partner and I'm camping yakless with the kids at the coast.   :'(
