Went out Bass fishing today at Ten mile lakes in Lakeside. Fishin was slow, no bites. I'm sure my total lack of knowledge contributed to the lack of bite. Was a nice day so i went out in my shorts. My legs are now sunburned like crazy and i got a serious farmers tan.

Did stop by the Marina and talked to the mechanic whos got pics all over there with big bass and he gave me some pointers. He even took the time to show me his rig he uses and casted a few times to show me how he retreives it. Nice guy and obviously knows how to catch bass.He showed me a pic of him all bundled up ,fishin in January with two big Bass. Bass in january!! amazing

It got pretty windy so i left about 1:00 oclock. Can't wait to get back there and try the new techniques.
See ya on the water..

Roy,

I thought we had added sunscreen to the list of things not to forget when getting read to go kayak fishing.   Good look next time with the new techniques.

I keep a spray bottle of SPF 30 in my truck, had it there since last August.  Sunburns hurt, and sunscreen is cheap and quick to apply.  I'm not a big fan of the old fashioned lotion versions though.

We didn't but good call. I put it on there.

Good idea on throwin a bottle in the truck phynix, being from Cali, i have exposed my body to enough sun for a lifetime i think. I have been pasty white since moving here. Now my legs are two toned, white on the back cherry red on the front and i got a nice well defined line where i had my wet shoes on.

I feel ya. I love the spray on, no rub types. Bullfrog, which is super waterproof and blocks UV well, is my fav.

Errrrr.....I may have to retract my recommendation on the spray on sunblock.  I now have two red Tiger Stripe sunburn marks on my right leg, about 6 inches long each.  And one on my left leg.  Appearantly I missed a couple spots.   >:(

I guess I'll stick to my goopy lotion.  At least I can see it until it's completely rubbed in.

Actually as a white guy who spent a few too many of my childhood years in the 70's without sunscreen and about 6 years as a life guard I try to block out the sun as completely as possible.  I've become a fan of the new physical block sunscreens (zinc or titanium oxide).  Unlike zinc oxide of the past (white noses), these actually will rub into and turn clear.
