I'm planning to float the Upper Kenai on Sunday -- the weather forecast is gorgeous, and the river is low and slow (flow: 865 cfs; stage: 5.99 ft. and steady) but with all this sun should be rising. Just jumping from gravel bar to gravel bar looking for rainbows. Water's cold: 35.2 -- high O2

Anybody interested? I'll paddle the IK on this one, since I'm on a no-pedal restriction for another FIVE weeks.

A buddy has been catching some real nice ones the last coupe of days.  Unfortunately I'm slated for kid duty

talking with some guides the other day....flesh flies, sculpins, and egg sucking leeches should catch you some fatties
No matter how many times the PB's tell me I'm nuts....I still smile every time I out fish them

No fatties but I did find three small (14" range) rainbows on a quick run from Sportsman's to Jim's. Getting in and out of the IK was rough on the knee -- but standing in 35 degree water was a brilliant remedy. Couldn't wade much, too much twisting on the rocks below. Counted 22 bald eagles roosting or standing on gravel bars... Had the place to myself --counted four roadside bank anglers, that was it. Gorgeous day, glad to get out. Purple ESL was the money fly today.
