Bigger number longer legs? How does this part of things work? Also... I have read more then once it is wise to secure the turbo fins for going out and coming in. Do you leave them attached the whole time? Where do you hook it up?

It is an adjustment screw at the top of the turbo fins to adjust the deflection of the fin, i can never remember which is what. Looser is  more torque i believe and tighter is  more speed.

I have a good method for going out through the surf without leashimg my drive, I go out at Sunset Bay... ;)

If you sail, maybe this will help.  The fins are like sails.  When you tighten the adjustment screw, you're pulling the trailing edge of the fin tight which takes the 'luft' out of it.  Just like a sail, more luft will generate more power from the available wind, but it will also generate more drag as relative wind increases.  What does that mean on the water?   If you leave the adjustments on the loose side, you'll go a little faster when doing low-effort peddling.  If you snug them up, you'll be a little slower during low-effort peddling, but will be able attain a higher top end speed when max-effort peddling.

I don't think it really matters, but that's how I understand it.  I tighten my all the way up, but they will loosen over time and I don't really notice it until I do maintenance.

I think rev is telling about the posts, not the little nut on the top of the fins.  Rev, logic would dictate the higher number is for taller peeps, but reality is pick the one that fits you.  On a really long day I find myself adjusting them 2-3 times on the water to reduce back pressure and rest my legs.  And yes, you need to secure your drive before coming in, leash it with 550 or something strong, no bungee, and short so it isn't a weapon when you flip.  I personally use my drive to launch and go all War at Sea with it.

I leave my drive in going both in and out.  I just hop off in about 3 feet of water, pull the drive, and walk it in.
