Just read the regulations for Washington State and as long as it is a canoe or kayak that is NOT powered there is NO NEED to register?

We once had an office administrator (called them secretaries back then) tie plastic bags over all the phones in the office on April Fool's Day. We had her convinced that the phone company was going to blow the dust out of the phone lines to improve call quality. The bags were her idea to keep the dust from getting on everything.
Relax. You'll live longer.

One funny one I heard about once was when my boss told about how he worked in an office full of academic types at a university. He slipped a note on his boss' desk to call D. Germaine Sheppard. The boss was not pleased when he called up the animal shelter and got as far as asking for Dr. Germaine Sheppard.
