Yeah I'm returning them.  Not a big deal, just a hassle.  Gonna give this one a try:

It's the cheapest one I can find that has 12v out.  Only 10000mah tho.  Still, slightly more amp hours than the blue brick.

Welp, don't buy this battery either.  Piece of garbage.  I got less than 5 hours out of it.

OK, anyone got any ideas on batteries?  This one looks OK but at $80 is pretty pricey.

Rory, the Anker battery is the one that works.  I know it's 80$, but it works.

I picked that one up a short while ago but I haven't used it yet.  Just finished building the battery box, and completed the Dragonfly install on the Revo yesterday.  I'll probably give it a test run tomorrow.

Well, let us know. The dang blue brick is starting to look appealing again!

If anyone isn't wanting to drop the $80 for the Anker 20000mah 12v, new egg has the Anker 15000mah 12v right now for 69.99 and you can get 15% off through 4/2 which makes it 59.49. So $20 less than the 20000mah. That's what I bought but haven't had a chance to use it yet.

Ended up getting the 20000mah one. Tested it out in the garage (with my 587ci hd) and it lasted somewhere between 13 and 14 hours.

I'm sticking with SLA ... got three 7AH delivered for $59.97 kinda tough to beat that.

Yeah, I am not really won over by lithium batteries. I am getting the same duration at 4x the cost. With only a little bit of weight savings. The blue brick started out very promising but the quality issues just caused undue hassle and on-the-water heartbreak. The anker *seems* better, but time will tell.

I have the 20,000mah Anker, and it works well, but my Lowrance 5HDS turns on in default mode with Max backlight yielding only 8hrs.  I turn it down to get more time.

2 7AH SLA's for $10.....

But I hate the weight so I'll stick to my LIPO and let them be my back-up.

Rory,

As mentioned above, turn down your brightness.  It has a huge impact on battery life.  Going from 10 to 5 gets me a full 1/3 more battery life.

Anyone know why I couldn't use this one for FF?  http://www.batterystuff.com/batteries/lithium-iron-batteries/ebike-standby-toy-alarm/lfp128120.html
$140 for the battery and $104 for the charger, I don't know I use a lead acid sealed battery

You absolutely can, but that is like using 65# braid on your rod to target Bluegill.
It will work, but WAYYY overkill on size of battery and even more so on price.

Let us know how it works out for you.

The 7ah,and 8ah 12V sealed lead acid batteries are about as big and heavy as any kayaker would ever want.

well, this one says it is half the weight of the typical SLA.  It would also last way longer.  You wouldn't necessarily have to charge it after every outing (maybe after the 3rd or 4th). If you're going on a multi-day trip you could (potentially) not worry about charging or having to bring a backup.  I don't think it's a terrible idea.  Then again I said less than 24 hours ago that I wasn't sold on lithium batteries :)
