New the kayak fishing scene. In fact, I'm so new that I have never even tried it. I don't even own a kayak! But I am very much interested in learning what I can from you vetern fishermen so that I can make a kayak purchase, and then see if I can translate my fishing skills on land to the water!

I'm 27 years old, and work full time as a physical therapist. Although I love my job, I can honestly say that I'd rather be out fishing, camping or hunting (who really who wouldn't agree?). I live in Anchorage, Alaska. This will be my first full summer up here and I plan on taking full advantage of my afternoons after work, and my weekends to be outside to enjoy the warmth and light! Hoping to meet some guys in the area who can share with me some local knowledge as far as fishing and kayaking goes.
Cut 'em straight. Fish 'em deep.

Welcome to the site.  There's a fairly strong contingent of kayak fishers in the "bowl" and "valley" area and they love talking kayak fishing, planning fishing outings, and competing with each other.  ;D  I'm located out in the boonies of the the Copper River Basin but try to make monthly pilgrimages to fish with them in the summer.  They are a great bunch and I look forward to fishing with them....and you this summer!

Cheers

Welcome!  Always glad to se a few more folks here in Alaska!  It always amazes me that here in Alaska, people are crazy about fishing and about kayaking, but you hardly ever run into people who are kayak fishing...just strange to me.

This site here is by far and away the best resource for fishing the cold waters and species of the Pacific north west.  I learned pretty much everything I know from NorthwestKayakAnglers.com.

I do have a few more south-central Alaska specific websites.  Despite some of the URL's I am not a guide.  But take a look if you have the time and ask the questions here in this forum.  All sorts of crazy good folks here!

Keep June 28 the open if you can.  It will be the second annual NWKA Alaska Kayak fishing tournament.  We will likely base out of Whisy Gulch which is just a few miles North of Anchor Point.  We will update the information here on this site!

Welcome aboard!  Let's fish!!!
