Sunset Bay Angler Of The Day Kayak Fishing Challenge

Here's what I use as they always say the more information you have the better prepared you are. Who are "they" anyways and are they always right?

JamesC and I are camping at Sunset Bay SP Friday thru Sunday - site A32

Stormsurf is showing 4@7 with winds at N or NE 8-9kts all day

Should be fine, just not flat and calm.


We are at site 3 at Bastendorff campground

Updated camping list:

Erik (browneyesvictim) and Josh(flyguy) will be in spots B06 and B36arriving Friday, departing Monday at  sunset bay
Eric F. and salemite will be in Site B07 at sunset bay
Diane and Steve(Wobbler) will be in site B29, Friday thru Monday. sunset bay
Lauren(captain redbeard) and Christine at Sunset Bay, site D21. Arriving Thursday, leaving Sunday.
Dale Nelson(deluxeharley) B01 and Tim Flora B02 4 yellow outbacks at sunset bay
Dana(yaksurf) site A26 at sunset bay
JamesC and Sherminato at Sunset Bay Friday thru Sunday - site A32
lil-cowboy at sunset bay state park b16 and will be staying Friday to Sunday.
Matanaska at site 3 at Bastendorff campground.

I'll be there Thursday night till Sunday.

Just had some stuff come up and now I'm not going to be able to get out of town till this evening, I don't think we will be in Coos Bay untill 9ish.  How late is too late to come to your house, Ray?  We have never fished the area and would like to hear your advice, as well as pick up our captains bags.

It's basically just gonna be a 1 hour meet and greet captains meeting so you will just have to register in the morning. i gotta get up at 4 am so not gonna be a hang and party type deal.

First light is at 6 am, so everyone keep that in mind when launching, will keep first launch time @ 5 am but it might be prettty dark still. Don't forget to pay your fee, sign your waiver and get your chip before you go out.

I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited!

I fished sunset yesterday afternoon until dark. Lots of good sized lings and big schools of rockfish. Should be a fun day tomorrow. Just hope the wind stays down.
