I am trying to figure out which mount would work best for my fishfinder with a Scotty mount.  I was thinking the scotty #368 I am also trying to find a gear head also! It seems like fishermans and sportsmans do not carry these two items. Has anyone used these 2 and know if they will work?

The #368 would appear to work. I have bought my Scotty products online usually. I can not always find what I want in stores. Do you already have a Scotty base installed in your kayak?

I have a Humminbird 597 fish finder mounted on a Scotty Universal Sounder Mount, Part No. 368, which goes into a Scotty Gearhead, which goes in Yak Attack Geartrac.  It works great, and I'm quite happy with it.  I don't know anything about the base on the x4-pro, but the 368 mount is supposed to be a universal mount, so hopefully you can bolt the x4-pro on the 368 without any problems.  Scotty didn't start selling this mount very long ago, so some stores may not have it yet, but you should be able to find it on the internet.  For example, I see that Austin Kayak is selling it for $16.

Before the 368 mount was available, I made a mount for my Humminbird 597 by buying a Scotty post mount for a Humminbird Piranha fish finder, Part No. 274, and adapting it for the Humminbird 597.  It was a hassle to make the adapter, but it works fine.  Here's a picture of the improvised mount.

I have pretty much given up on shopping locally for stuff for the kayak.  Amazon is my friend.  I get better prices, seldom pay sales tax, and get it in two days.  And save the frustration of every which place that seems to carry half of what I want or need.

I have the gear head and like it.  Haven't used it for a gopro but just for my rod holder.

good luck.
