Bass Bonanza pre-fishing: Mayer State Park, Sun 5/4

For anyone interested in meeting up to bass fish, I'm planning to put in at Mayer State Park this Sunday 5/4 in preparation for the Bass Bonanza. I intend to be there around daybreak, and fish till early afternoon.

Thank you for the invite. I'm trying to get some time OTW this weekend but it's only a maybe. It's looking like I won't be able to prefish until the weekend before the tourney. If I can make it I'll see you out there!

I wish I could hit it again closer to the tourney date, but this is my last opportunity before the event. Anyone have a recent surface temp on the river?

After work I could get one at the dalles.should be a degree or 2 warmer there

Appreciate the info! So that's a couple degrees warmer than the link for Bonn. Dam. Either way the temp is now definitely in the "active" range for pre-spawn smallies, where it was still only 46-47deg when last out there on 4/21.  We sure won't be able to use water temp as an excuse now for not getting bit.

I will try tomorrow morning and see how it goes.

Any tips on lures? never fished the bass before just some basics I can throw in the tackle box to take with me.
