Hi everyone. I've been lurking here for years and finally got around to joining. I have a very old Tarpon 160 and a slightly less old Tarpon 120. I picked them both up late last summer and have only recently gotten the 120 set up to fish.

Took my first shot at Sound lings yesterday and got this guy on a 6" Gulp grub.

Went back out today and caught a half dozen rockfish, but no lings. Nasty out there today, but a lot less crowded than yesterday.

I fish out of an old Tarpon 120 as well for my solo boat. I'd love to see some pictures of how you've rigged it, especially considering some of its design "features". :)

I currently have a 1.5" RAM ball mounted in the compass spot and a RAM 2007 rod holder. I've only taken it out a few times with that setup but so far I'm not sure how I lived without a rod holder for so long.

Very close to where you live.

You can see the two flush mounts in the picture from my first post--that seems to be the standard location for them. I put a Lowrance Ram mount in the footwell for the FF and a Scotty mount up in the center "mast" area so I can move my FF and rod holder between boats. I'll see if I've got a better pic of the whole setup.

The nice thing about buying old cheap boats is the complete lack of concern for drilling holes all over them.

Yeah I didn't know if you had some rod holder mounts or gear tracks fore of the seat. I don't really like trolling when I can't see the rod. The flush mounts are nice for storage, though. I'm a milk crate guy so I have plenty of rod storage on that.

You're exactly right on the old boats!!!
