Got out to PC for the first time yesterday.  Awesome trip!  I mostly worked around Haystack Rock and got my limit of black rock fish and ling cod.  The biggest ling was 27 inches.  I lost count of how many undersized lings, rock fish and Cabazon I caught but it was close to 50 fish total for 1/2 a day.  Can't wait for the nest time I can get out there!

Nice fish!  I got out there at about 11a and fished about four hours; what an amazing day to be out on the water!

So jealous... for the 3rd week in a row I was stymied from getting out on the good forecast day. Way to take advantage of the slot in the weather. My freezer is empty... I need protein! :)

Sweet!  How was the water?  Do you think a Pro Angler 14 would do okay in the ocean?

  Del,
Odds are pretty good a Pro Angler will do okay in the ocean. If it's your 1st salt trip--you might want to hook up with a buddy...just sayin'
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Experience, ability, and forecast should always make the decision. I've seen PA 12 and 14s out at PC doing just fine. If you look up on YouTube you can find guys using them to head out into the Gulf of Mexico from TX and LA. Start digging into how to read the forecast and wait for calm days. Good advice sprinkled around this site if you search. Some rules of thumb: If it's a good day for surfers it's a bad day for surf launches. Look for a day where the swell period is a minimum of 2x the swell height. And for me I try to stick to less than 8mph wind.

Thanks guys.  I still need to get some gear before I even consider going out.  Like a dry suit, radio, ect....  I would never go out alone.
