Recently retired (67) who started fly fishing 2 years ago and now is starting kayak fishing with a Nucanoe Frontier on lakes and estuaries in the area.  Been out for 3 practice outings (Ollala Bay) and 3 lake outings (Beaver, Wilderness, and Crescent) with my fly fishing club (PSFF).  Spending 3 days hitting 4 lakes in the Dry Falls State Park this weekend.

Always looking for kayak fishing buddy to hit local lakes and estuaries.  Rivers too after I've gotten more comfortable on the water.

Welcome!  I am out on the Key.
We will have to get out and fish sometime!  I have been hitting American Lake trying to get things all dialed in preparation for salmon!
Fish on the right side that's where the fish are! John 21:6

I am no longer a dealer for Wavewalk but if you ever want to paddle one let me know!

Widgeonmangh - I think we've met.  Are you the minister / wave walker dealer who gave me a test paddle at Ollala last nov?  Let me know a good day to hit American.  I have a kayaker friend who also wants to hit American

That is me!

I will be going on Monday of next week (unless things change).  I will be targeting Kokanee.  I have been having to hit it late and leave early, due to one car down.  So 9ish to 2ish.  But most likely that is where I will be.  I will tell you everything I know about fishing American out of a Kayak, which will take about 3 min.  and leave plenty of time for fishing.  ;D ;D

Sorry but won't be back from Park Lake yet.  Next time.  Good luck

You too.  Sounds like you are using retirement well!

Hi, another Harborian here   I'm not much of a fisherman, my kayak has yet to hit freshwater, but I'm interested in getting out more and meeting folks.  I normally putz around the edges of the salt in and around the harbor, Wollochet Bay, and other nearby spots.   Would love to do some more ambitious things like riding the Narrows, but I would really prefer fellow travelers for that one!

Sure wish I could retire so I could spend more time out on the water...

Jim - luv to paddle sometime.  Where do launch when doing Wollochet Bay?  Thought all of that shoreline was private property?

Darn near all of it is private.  Near the mouth of the bay on east side towards the Narrows Airport is one public launch point.  You take Point Fosdick Rd south, head west on 10th St, and eventually you run out of road at the bay.

Last year I was looking for public access, and ran across a section of state law that deals with roads and beaches.  Basically, if a public road was ever used to connect up to a dock or pier, as a boat launch, or as a general beach access point, then that access remains.  So if there used to be a ferry dock at the end of the rod, now we can use it as a kayak launch :-)  Google maps puts the location as   47.266465, -122.597463

There's another one further up Wollochet Bay, at  47.290758, -122.611386
And one over near Horsehead Bay at   47.290030, -122.684150

Great thanks for the info.  Knew about the law.  There's a similar access to Henderson Bay / Lays Inlet at the end of Rosedale Street.  Google Rosedale Park, Wa.  Although you have to drag between two trees 44" apart and down a couple of rough concrete steps.

Cool, I'll have to go check that one out...  I haven't had the opportunity to hit that section yet, Raft Island looks like a nice little area (at high tide).

It's a nice paddle but be sure to time it, like you said, at high tide because the south side empties right out and can leave you kinda stranded or, have to turn back and go back around the north.
