Here are some pics of last weeks kayak improvements.

first is an old cooler I turned into a yak crate and dry storage.

then a cart I made out of the wheels from a old yard wagon

Excellent! I'm a firm believer in concocting stuff out of other stuff that is cluttering up my garage/shop/junkpile.  8)

I want to make a dolly with the wheels a little closer together to make it down a little 12" - 16" wide rut of a trail at one of my favorite spots. I lug my Ultimate 12 the hundred yards on my shoulder now.

I've even been thinking of making something like a really long-handled wheelbarrow for leverage to help balance the thing, since there isn't much leverage, laterally, to be had on the end of a yak. Just a thought, so far. Maybe I'll just make a simple dolly and try to just lash a stick across the end of the boat for a handle. Maybe it will balance good'nuff without a handle. I'll work something out.

one thing I need to work on is something to make the cart easy to take back to the truck with out the kayak.  I had thought I would just use the tie down strap to tow it back but it does not ballance and goes all over the place.  I am thinking of useing a wagon handle and some kind of detachable rig.  I like to use it instead of backing the trailer to the water I park and set everything upthat way i don't spend alot of time on the launch.

Nice work on the cooler, Hick. I hope you don't mind me borrowing your idea...
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day...
Teach a man to fish and he will sit at his miserable job all day wishing he was fishing...

beware of that cooler in the wind!
I have the same cooler (without all the attachments) and it sure is a good sail with a slight breeze. I have not used it much and just take me gunny sack for fishes caught.
I do pack me small softsided cooler for beer ;D

I second that motion.  On Cle Elum Lake a few weeks back I decided to toss a small cooler in the tank well that was keeping my lunch cool.  The wind kicked up and I felt a definitely sail effect in the rear of the boat.  We were quartering slightly downwind and my stern kept getting pushed out by the wind.  That is one of the few times I wish I had a rudder.

That is one of the things I have been watching for.  the other day is got a little windy but I was either facing into the wind or had it at my back.  I am thinking that my next yak will have a rudder if nothing else to help counter the sideways pull when trolling.

Huntinhick(my dad) is taking m fishing to this new spot.. I'm waiting to see how it holds up..because he usually toes me back to shore maybe i have to toe him back
Someone going bungee jumping to me is cool BUT someone landing a monster of a fish off of a kayak is AMAZING

Queen of Kings... is that (red on red) supposed to be encrypted or something.  Note to every one else, if you highlight the text with your mouse you can read it and it says...

No worries.  If you ever do anything fancy like different font colors and image links,etc..  it's a good idea to check it out with the preview button before you post to make sure everything works out okay.
