VHook and myself will be heading up to Sequim State Park for Memorial Day weekend camping and kayak fishing. Anybody have any tips or would like to join us?

Oddly enough,  I've never heard of anyone kayak fishing sequim.  that's not to say the fishing isn't good.  Just that you're pioneers!

I've fished Dungeness Spit out of a kayak for butts once before.  Nice paddle, if you go WITH the tide.  Didn't catch anything, but they are there.

I was there this winter and did alright in the river for dolly varden and cutties.  I was not able to land a single steelhead.  I really wanted to try out by the spit, but I left my kayak at home.  It was a very cool place.

I tried it once last year for Kings and Coho. I launched at the county park at the end of Kitchen-Dick rd. (nice park btw). I remember a very long paddle in shallow water heading toward the end of the spit. After a few miles I got to 50 FOW and started seeing a few marks and schools of bait. This was near the end of the spit. Not even a tap for me that day. At the same time our brother Bryan got a nice King off Salt Creek about 35 miles west when he was out with his son. Bryan knew that area better than any of us he took a lot of that knowledge with him, our loss.

I'd search for deeper water than the spit area has to offer, maybe Indian Island area. But keep an eye on the tide range, the currents rip out there. One kayaker died and the other went for a long cold swim about 3 years ago when they got caught in the current and couldn't make it back.

Yaktrap...Regarding Indian Island area...A good friend and I were looking at launching at Fort Worden and going around Point Wilson to a drop off and those kelp beds on the other side of the fort. I know the current rips like you said but have you ever put in much time in that area? I have always been on land when I have been up there or in a small boat, never a kayak so I am intrigued. Plus I have always done really, really well in the Port Townsend area so it makes it that much more appealing. Anyway, thought I would ask.

Zee and I did the same (with similar results) a couple of years ago.

Yep. 2 times there, once w Pole and once w Spot. Both times no fish for us but saw lots of fish caught. Tides need to be perfect and you need to ride them on time. That can be one tiring paddle/pedal...

Our Memorial Day weekend trip led us to Lake Sutherland. Had some good luck chasing kokanee, rainbow and cutthroat trout. Absolutely beautiful lake to fish. Just beware the bald eagles have a taste for kokanee and trout

What about the coho fishery in Dungeness Bay Oct 1-31? I can't find any information on it, except in the Manual. I'm looking for any coho opportunities in reach of kayak along the north shore of the peninsula the first week of October. Last year, I did OK near the shipping lanes in Sept.
