My other buddy had to back out due to work. The more the merrier, and would rather not hit this spot solo for my first time. Thinking of launching early morning Friday, and staying Saturday if conditions allow.

Obv'y the forecast can change, but (knock on wood) right now they're calling for calm seas, light wind, and sunny skies Friday.

How far out to halibut and lings in this area?  Looks like a good forecast.

I've been using this as a rough guide - http://www.salmonuniversity.com/sjf_port_angeles.html

I'm thinking of starting w/ observatory point (very, very close to shore and shelter). Then from there trying the sandflats, and from there the humps (each being further from shore). All dependent on conditions allowing, of course.

Not sure I can get out there this weekend, but hopefully can pass along my recent experience.   I picked up a halibut both Friday and Sunday - both about 190' deep off of Angeles Point/Elwha River.
If you go that far out, do it early in the morning and don't hang out there too long - the wind almost always picks up in the afternoon, and its usually from the west - causing chop, whitecaps, and generally a miserable and long return trip.  I would be very careful if you are not a strong paddler/pedaller.  (I cheat - I have a sail and a motor if needed.)
I tried fishing the Observatory Point area with no luck, although I did talk to a kayaker who said he picked up a halibut in the area.  Most of the power boaters were fishing in front of Freshwater Bay to Angeles Point.
No one was trying for lings next to the cliffs in the Observatory Point area - makes me think there aren't too many there.  The bottom wasn't very rocky, and there was plenty of kelp to get hung up on next to the cliffs.

Thank you, DoubleR, for the intel. A few other questions if you don't mind

Where'd you launch from? Did you drift or troll? And how'd you plan for currents (where you'd start/end up)?

What launch point did you use DoubleR?

Launch from Freshwater Bay boat ramp - no fees - there is plenty of overflow parking up the hill if you get there too late.
No trolling - everyone drifts with the current/wind.  When I was out there the west wind made me head east on both the ebb and flood.
In a perfect scenario, you use the current to push you where you want to go, fish the slack, limit out, and use the current to get back to the launch.
Pay attention to how far you have drifted - don't get farther from the launch than you want to - especially if you have to fight the wind/current.
Make sure you use enough weight to keep tapping the bottom.  The bottom is fairly smooth - never did lose any gear.

Hmm... Looks like the tides are all wrong for timing. At least they're maxing at 1.4kts, but still....

I may end up driving up there from PDX Thursday night but I will see. I'll drop a line on this discussion later this week if it's a go.

My experience was similar to DoubleR: wind pushed me East regardless of water current direction.  The wind was just a few mph with occasional gusts and water currents were predicted up to 1.3 mph when was there.

I hope to be out there this Saturday.

DoubleR: I only saw one fish pic from you.  How big was the 2nd one?

Somebody helped me to find this resource when I was inquiring about nautical charts for the area.

Great information...now I need some further lessons on chart reading so i can comprehend everything this is conveying!  Maybe someday I'll grow up to be a salwater kayak fisherman.  ;D

(Please don't let this jinx me) - At this point,. NOAA's forecast for Thurs-Sun is as such:

THU
W WIND 15 TO 25 KT. WIND WAVES 2 TO 4 FT.
FRI
SW WIND TO 10 KT. WIND WAVES 1 FT OR LESS.
SAT
W WIND 15 TO 25 KT. WIND WAVES 2 TO 4 FT.
SUN
W WIND 20 TO 30 KT. WIND WAVES 3 TO 5 FT.

If this forecast holds, I'm only going to be able to give Friday a shot. Of those interested in hitting this is, is Friday an option for anyone?
