I wanted to share some pictures and video from last Saturday in Depoe Bay. Steve(Doughboy) and myself decided to head out to test the water. Within an hour or so, Steve hooks into this beast of a Lingcod that runs him up and down and side to side for around 10 minutes. We both did very well and hooked some nice Lings, FAT Cabbies and quite a few Rockfish. This fishery is "red hot" and really looking forward to the ORC.
Anyone else getting stoked for ORC?
-Michael

Hey Rawk that beast was to long for my stick. Anthony and I guessed it to be 38-39 inches. Michael had a hitch hiker that was trying to eat a 23 inch ling, now that fish was huge. I also lost other fish that broke my line. I think the winning fish this year will be a real monster.

Key words from Jamster!

"Bonk it before it goes nutz"

I'd hate to see her do the gator roll in the lap, break her jaw and/or the Lip Gripper and head over the side back to the deeps.

The first job was getting the fish on a game clip. Once secured Michael handed me his bonker and I attempted to stun the fish before removing the organs.

I like to give them the wood shampoo as soon as I know I'm going to keep it.  Makes it easy to get it on the stringer if it's no longer trying to flop around.

   That is a great ling for Depoe Bay.

   Hope I can find its' big sister on July 12th.

   I think I recognize that spot in the 1st picture.  ::) ::) ::)
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

What a beautiful fish. Big fish eat little fish; imagine how intimidating that this was to the locals, you've done that area a favor by harvesting that monster - Any scents used? Or is that getting a little too personal? LOL!
