My kid and I found a few fish at Lake Crescent this weekend. The weather was only a tad bit windy but the fish didn't seem to care. Even though it's a release fishing rule my daughter just likes bringing them to the boat most of all. She's not a fan of barbless (I wholeheartedly agree when you injure ten fish to catch half as many) and she said she would rather fish for bass with frogs next. We have a spot in mind there.

Camping was good as most people were quiet as soon as it was dark and everyone we encountered was friendly. The good weather was a blessing and very mild after returning from a week in Florida.

This little kayak is already getting some miles and fish counts. Needlefish or Coho Killers did the best for us. Until the next adventure, see ya.

Great pictures. And that has to be some of the best looking water in the PNW.

Love the color of that lake.  I've often wanted to stop there and fish, or even just paddle around.  One day I'll make the time, or I'll make the drive to Omak instead.

Great report, thanks! I've been hoping for some info from NWKA members as it's on my list to fish this summer. It's awesome that your daughter wants to fish!

Nice.  My son caught a sweet Blueback last summer trolling the middle on the way back to shore.  Nice sized.  Beautiful fish....truely blue.  I caught some small blues tossing spinners at the northern shoreline about 1/2 way down the lake.  We love to kayak this lake.  So beautiful.

Blueback is another name for Beardslee Rainbow which is only found in this lake.  They are pretty amazing fish.  Note the large eyes.

Cool thanks. I've never heard of that before.

Also I just realized that you guys are talking about a place in Washington. I thought this was Crescent Lake, OR.

Yup, this lake is near Port Angeles in Washington State. Its a nice piece of water near the northern border of the Olympic National Park. If you never been there before you should schedule a trip out there and do some fishing and take a hike to Sol Duc falls.

Here's a pic that shows how blue they are and the big eyes. No I didn't use Photoshop.

I went there 3 times in 2013, found plenty of fish each time with the largest one over 22", but most were around 12 to 14". It's worth the trip, just to stare into that blue water for a few hours.
