If you're coming thru The Dalles you should fish the Columbia at the mouth of the Klickitat. It will be a tad early but could be salmony...

Hey, Hoppa, would 10 Sep be too late for this area. I could stop at the Dalles after we get back from our cruise.

That should be a perfect time. I'll be in Lake Tahoe so I can't join you but I hope to fish it on 8/24 before I head down and will post a report.

Well, we had a salmon fishing meetup at the Siletz that spanned two days, yesterday and today. Present with Art were myself, bb2fish, chumchum, as well as two of chumchum's friends , my wife and a friend of bb2fish. So, we had a good contingent of kayakers. Unfortunately the fishing was slow  and Art is still working on a kayak-caught salmon. We only heard of a few fish caught each day but the bright spot was Barb/ bb2fish catching a rather large king yesterday. I'll let her post the pics and tell the story but here are just a few of the trip.

Part of our group taking a break at Coyote Rock

Barb had a problem namely "net-too-small".

She and her friend were the only ones still fishing when we headed out so she may well have another one by now.

Art is headed south for the Sunset Bay tournament and I think he plans to try for salmon along the way. I hope I can still get around like that when I'm 76. Watch out you guys in the AOTD! He's got some serious skills!

Art dropped me a note yesterday saying Barb landed a 32lb'er!  :o

What a beast!!!  I sure hope Art scores down south.

40" and 30#.   The word got out and she was a sensation on the river and got lots of props from all the boaters. The one A-hole who razzed us yesterday did not have a word to say today.

Art you are the man! As I told ya at AOTD I hope I'm half as spry as you when I'm 60 yrs old. I think you may be in the best shape I have seen someone in as (young) as you are. I hope to get a chance to fish with ya as well as shoot the bull. I tip my hat to you and keep up the routine it's working for you.

Trip is done, heading for Texas. Not the way I wanted to go. Got my tail tween my legs wearing a nine day skunk on salmon. Trolled.about 125 miles dragging cut plug with no luck. Guess I'll add yak salmon to Ca wsb and Ca hali on the list of undoable bucket list fish. Even with help from spot, chris, yaksurf dana, and many pleasant but nonproductive hours peddling with Roy and Dude, no good. May not ever be able to make this trip again but I have wonderful memories of great folks, beautiful scenery and great waters. Maybe I'll have to figure a way do do Ak befire I.get too old. Thanks to all and good and safe fishing,  Art (upnorthtex)
