I didn't see one boat a catch any salmon. Alot of dogfish were caught by boats. I didn't even get a bite all day and I only marked a few on the fishfinder.
I still made a video you can check out.

Where were you in the tide table? we've done best an hour before/after high tide when the water's just starting to move in either direction, just alright two hours before/after incoming. Tried low once, with not a bite. All action right @ bottom in 80-130ft.

Way to get out there. A suggestion if I may, trolling with your rod behind in the molded-in rodholders (in Hobies) seems less than optimal because you can't easily see the rod tip or pick the rod up easily when you get a bite.

Next week I was thinking of parking a car down at Narrows Park and then getting dropped off at Gig Harbor at low tide...Then fish the incoming tide down past Point Evans (where I have heard fishing is best there and the Girl Scout Camp) under the bridge back to Narrows Park. I am pretty sure you would be with the current on that drift/paddle. Anyone done something like that?

I think it's illegal to retain Girl Scouts until August...

I was there a little before peak high tide.

Not fishing, and not the whole distance...  I paddle out of GH, and there's often a bit of an eddy effect from the mouth of the harbor down towards Point Evans - so you may have a counter-current unless you stay out far enough from shore...  Of course, if you're fishing I bet you're out deep enough it wouldn't be an issue  :)

Put in at Skansie Park, or the new Fisherman's Pier next to the Tides Tavern?  Easier at Skansie, their dock platform is much nicer for a kayak-height entry.  Just have to go a little further for exiting the harbor.

If I get skunked at Defiance, I usually hit the bottom right off of Owens beach and pick up some Sole.

Nice effort, Shoeman. I get skunked often but just get mad. It's nice to see what others are up to. Thanks.

We did not catch any girl scouts, or salmon.  We did, however, put the hurt on a number of dogfish.

It was largely an experimental effort, as I rigged up the downrigger for the first time on the Slayer.  After a bit of trial and error I came up with a system that worked OK...still not perfect.  Was able to keep it down and although no salmon were caught, I did catch 2 dogfish on the troll, so that's a start.
