My brother and sister in law both have the Revo sail kits and they love them. They also have the inflatable out riggers for stability. In Oregon and Washington you will need to have them registered with the state marine board though!

I am pretty happy with my side-kicks on my Revo 13 so far.  I wouldn't recommend using the sail and trying to fish at the same time though.  That thing will really get in the way.  For just cruising around I imagine the sail would be nice.

Is this a new addition? I'd love to see an updated post with pics of your current set up. I'm a big fan of your work.  :)

Cuz that makes it a sail boat not a man powered  craft " they just want your money".

I have the sidekick amas for my Revo 13 - makes it very stable.  When left in the "up" position they don't affect your speed at all.  The only time I had second thoughts about having them on was when coming into shore on some fairly good sized waves - I think I will try taking  them off next time before coming in - if you get sideways they tilt you way up into the air and get in the way of paddling a little.

As far as licensing in WA, kayaks are supposed to be licensed if they have a sail or motor.  I've never heard of it being enforced, but I did finally license my AI when I put a motor on it.  You register it with the Dept. of Licensing just like a regular boat or car.

In WA sailboats over 16' require registration so I sail my TI as close to the speed of light as possible, the Lorentz Contraction seems to avoid the problem...

Do the amas stay on all the time, storage, transport, and deployment?

Why do you think you need amas?

I need the amas so I don't wind up in the water.when I do something dumb. I put.tjem on at watrrs edge, not for transport. I also mounted well back of the aka mount for the island for easier.paddleing and.reentry in the surf. Art

Good call.  They need to be mounted far back to be out of the way of your paddle stroke.
