Haven't been on the site for a couple months. Life got busy. Decided to hit Pac City today. The forecast looked iffy but since I was already here for a few days and just happen to have brought along the yak, I went down to take a look.

It didn't look too unmanageable, so i decided to give it a go. Waited until about 0830 to launch (as did the majority of the dory fleet).

Chatted up the fish checker for a report while i was waiting and she said she's been seeing some halibut and heard rumors of a 54 incher. Nice gal. Sporting a wicked goatee, though 😜.

After waiting for a few dories to launch,   I saw the shot and took it. Got out pretty clean. The out is never the hard part 😉.

Beautiful day on the water.

It was almost entirely a rockfish show. One lonely greenling. No ling love. Caught about 2 dozen fish in as many hours. Decided not to push my luck so I came in around 11ish.

Ended the day with a grey whale fly by and a sea lion that thought it'd be funny to sneak up behind me, take a big breath, and literally rub my yak with its back. 😳. Scared the crap outta me!

Tomorrow's forecast looks the same so I'm gonna give it another go. Hopefully I'll have some pics to share.

Sorry about the lack of pics. I'll try to remember to take a few more tomorrow. Ahhh shit! It's starting to rain.

Nice! Thanks for the report.  Sounds like the fishing is picking up from being slow last week.

I went out Saturday morning when I first got down here (before wifey arrives) and got skunked! There were abiut 4 dories in the same vicinity and only saw 3 landed. Managed to not huli but lost my safety flag while dragging my yak up the surf line to the truck? Who does that? Fish checker told me someone found it but didn't leave it with her. Grrrrrr.

Fished just north of the rock along that 30ish foot ledge this a.m. Marked a bunch of schools of fish.
