Has anyone fished the Nestucca or Little Nestucca for salmon this time of year?  What's the water like for kayaking?

It's probably the tail end of their spring salmon run right now but the summer steelhead run should be picking up.  Water would be pretty nice to float with a kayak right now since it is pretty low.

Our friends have a place there and I have been kayak fishing there twice although never caught any fish yet. I did see a guy catch a nice salmon off the bank in mid July last year which surprised me, right on the spit. You can paddle down to the mouth and crab.

Oh , yeah. And watch out for the sand bars in your Hobie. Near the confluence of the Little N. and the Nestucca  and also down near the mouth. I ran aground and had to drag my paddle kayak down near the mouth at low tide.

There are still some springers in the water mainly up around the mouth of Three Rivers.  That little bit of rain we had last week helped out.
