Hi all.  I've been yak fishing for 8 years now. So far only on fresh water but the plan is to get on the salt water.  I live down in central ca (unfortunately for me) but have a son in Portland,  a daughter in Bend, & Dad is in Vancouver.  I'll be in Vancouver at the end of July and I want to take my son out and see what we can do & reconnect.  My dad has spent plenty of time in his yaks so he's good to go.

My current rig  is a Tarpon 140 with a downrigger, etc.  I'm experienced with trout & Kokes. I was thinking Lake Merwin would be a good choice  to take the boys.  I'm up there frequently & used to live in Bend - before catching the fishing bug.

Am I on the right track with Merwin?
We'll be in Central Oregon (Bend) as well.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

From Bend you could drive to places like Odell Lake, East Lake, Crescent Lake and others to fish for kokanee.

In the Bend area I would fish Lake Billy Chinook for Kokanee. North Twin for trout and Crane Prairie for several species. Heard recently that Wickiup is hot right now also.
