Hey There,  Anybody have a suggestion on line length for crabbing out at PC. I crab allot in the estuary on the CR and use 50', not sure if that is sufficient out there in PC. Never crabbed PC only fished out from the rock. Any suggestions? Getting gear together for a trip there on the 7th.

Thanks

You'll do fine on crab in 30-40 feet of water about a 1/4 south of the rock. The dory guys also drop their pots in the area so you may see other floats in the area.

many thanks, is there deeper spots that are productive that would warrant the effort of lengthening the lines past 50'...

Not within reasonable kayak distance. I dropped a pot there for about 5 hours a week ago and got 7 keepers in one pot. If you give it a good soak you should get pretty close to a limit.

Last time I dropped south of the rock, I was at 70', and I was just about as far offshore as the inner side of it and 1/4 mile south. Make sure you mark it on your GPS. I had a hard time spotting mine in the swells until I was almost on it. I had 13 keepers (I know the limit is 12) in there - every one of them was male, and every one was big enough to not even have to measure. Too bad the fishing wasn't near as good.

sounds like some nice fatty crabs...my favorite...sorry to here about the fishing, I typically have a fair luck fishing out there.  Hope to try for some near shore halibut again this year....

I was out in PC today. Caught a limit of these 3 pounders just south of the rock
We did well with coho and chinook too :)

I'm thinking about heading over to PC this Saturday and would like to target salmon.  How far out are they?  Any one else going this weekend?

Crab meat was good. Only a couple were around 60% full but all the others were pushing 90%.
I usually run a 75 foot rope when crabbing in PC.
