So I fished WG with two guests from Japan.  neither had fished out of a kayak before.  Day one, the morning low ebb shift, I head out with the first guest. I manage 5 landed, keeping two a 30 and a 15. My guest manages one 30 pounder and two smaller fish he released.  Evening shift I let the two guys go at it alone.  Nothing.

Day two.  Morning shift the two guests go out again.  One limits, the other nothing.  A pair of 10 pounders.  Afternoon shift, I take the other guest out.  we hook one ping pong paddle and that's it.

So hit and miss.  The more interesting stuff....

So my guest manages a one eyed halibut.  Where the other eye should be, there is no scar, no nothing.  It sort of looks like its scarred in the pictures but its really not.  Light playing tricks.  Seemed healthy and everything else was normal.

The other "Huh, who knew" moment.  We are sitting at the waterline talking to dudemandude.  He was pointing out the small (4" to 6") dollies gathering around the cleaned halibut carcasses.  Toss out a small spinner and there quite a few 10" to 12" dollies out there.  I'm sure there are larger ones there but I may have to try that a bit more with a flyrod.

So a few pics of the weekend.

need to use a fill flash...

A roughly edited video of my guests 30 pounder.  Little longer than usual but I wanted to show more for the guests sake.  It does make me smile a little to see some of the issues he had and knowing I was just there a year back.  He is a very accomplished fisherman.  Just not from a kayak or for halibut.

Dude........... what another awesome report. Felt like I was right there with you.

Looks like your guests did a fine job. all things considered ..........Seiya's fight and landing were pretty special too. He got it done. Tell him , "good job".

Keep these reports coming. I do miss Alaska in the summer.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent
