I'm looking at the forecasts and reports for Saturday, but a little nervous about the recent winds everyone's been experiencing.  I'm still learning how to read the weather patterns and forecasts, etc.  Low tide isn't until 11:15am so a pre-dawn launch may not be necessary.

Any thoughts about heading out Saturday at PC?

Don't worry about tides at PC. Fish early to avoid the wind. It's best to launch as early as you can and be off the water by early afternoon. Saturday looks fine at this point as long as you're heading in by noon-ish.

Thanks for the advice.  I was also debating on Friday, but Saturday looks much friendlier.

Yes, that is right.
Launching in the early morning would be the best bet.
I'm thingking to fish on saturday, and will give it a try to bring my crab trap with me as well. Can anyone give a suggestion on the first time kayak crabbing in pc ? any specific area ?

Thanks

Are you guys going for salmon or bottom fish?  I might go as well but will be salmon fishing.   Not sure about the crabbing, I can only tell you where not to put your trap.  I didn't get a single one last weekend.

I'm thinking of bottom fishing, and would like to be off the water by noon.  Launching sometime between 6am and 6:30am.

Crab on south side of the haystack. That is where the sand is. I have never gone deeper that 45 feet and have done just fine.  Remember, if you drop your pot in 45 feet, when you come to retrieve it, it may be deeper if the tide is in.  In other words, don't drop it in 45 feet if you only have 50-55 feet of line or you may have to wait several hours beyond your target time to pull it (again, depending on the tides)

What Craig said. One other note is that it can be challenging to pull a pot in decent sized swell. Saturday is a borderline overall forecast at best. Ideally you want a duration that is twice the swell. 4 foot at 6/7 is borderline and will make for a bumpy day. I'm looking at magic seaweed. Hopefully it improves but make sure you realize it will be a challenging day out there if the current conditions hold.

I'm trying to make Saturday work as well. And can attest to it being very difficult to pull a pot in big swells not to mention finding it even when it's marked on gps plus tide and wind push you away from the landing area while your pulling it. I'm not bringing mine Saturday if I make it unless it flattens or spreads out more.
