I know we have lots of fish to chase but I have to wonder why brook and brown trout arnt listed?one would think they would be since they are pretty widespread.

I grew up fly fishing for Brookies in some very small streams in Montana that you could hardly float a kayak in. There are some in the alpine lakes in Wyoming. I think you could do well for them with a whitewater kayak. I think they have stocked some WA state lakes with browns as well.

We look at adding and subtracting species every year.  When the time comes,  usually around December,  we'll look at it again.

No matter we do though,  there is always someone that isn't satisfied.

I don't know why they were not all combined into a "Trout Group".  Why limit it to a couple species?

Cutthroat, Rainbow, Brown, Brook could all be in one group.  It would give us fishermen more options.

I also think the Bass should be combined.

just my 2 cents.  I'm not in charge.

Cutthroat and rainbow are separate,  which provides twice as many opportunities to add points as opposed to having a general "trout" category.

I can see the argument for allowing browns and brooks to count as rainbows,  but again,  rules don't get changed in the middle of the contest.

I've suggested this before (prior to the year starting)  but was shot down for unknown reasons.

Having multiple trout categories provides more opportunities for those participants who are, either for the most part or completely, confined to inland fisheries throughout the year.

Can you post a Cutbow into both the Cutthroat AND the Rainbow categories?   ;)

You can post a unicorn fish if you like,  but it won't get approved.   [emoji1]

That's a great point.all individuals could really rack up points.

If you post a cutbow in the as a rainbow trout and we see the "jaw slash" in the photo it will get DQ'd with a message that this looks like a cutthroat.  If you post it as a cutthroat we better be able to see the "jaw slash" in the photo.
