Uuq and I are likely going to WG for the afternoon high tide.

Who else is going out? We are thinking of this as one of our last trips there while we shift over to Seward Silvers.

I was looking at this weekend to go to WG but the weather doesn't look inviting but If you decide to go let me know I'd like to meet some one else doing the kayak thing.

We are driving to Soldotna on tomorrow,  crashing at a hotel,  and then going out to WG.  Aiming to get there around 11 to set up camp.  Hit the water at 1 and heading north. If the weather is too crappy,  we'll probably head home.  If it's bearable,  we'll stay and go back out at 6am.

Weather not looking good for Saturday but they are always wrong.  As long as you are there, I'd consider looking at Homer.  I hear they are hammering silvers not only in the lagoon but in the harbor and every where else in K-Bay.  Spot forecast looks better in that area.  If ya gotta have halibut, there's still that chance though the pollock and cod might get in your way.

How about a Kenai float?  With the hobies the middle river might be awesome.  Upper is ALWAYS fun for trout and the occasional salmon.  I'm debating hard.  I need to take my kid out one day.  Seward is tempting due to weather but don't want to go due to the derby.  Homer is a long way for my kid.  Hmmm...choices choices choices.  Dang it sucks to live here!  haha.

Homer is a long way for me too! I hate that drive... After about Soldotna,  I start getting cranky.  Kenai might be fun. My bro-in-law really wants to do that... I've been obsessed with getting a big but... But maybe I should hold off til Kodiak.

Middle Kenai really interests me... I think I could entice Carlos (still need assistance on the heavier lifting...)  Might make the shuttling easier too.

Hey Kard, do you ever put your drive in backwards to pedal against the current and hold it? I think that would be advantageous to presenting a fly, and I'm keen to give it a try after crossing the mile of Skilak to get to the river.  I penciled this in on my calendar for September silvers and 'bows while I've been home going stir crazy.

Checked the weather again to see what the big worry was. Wind is 12-15 predicted. Rain doesn't bug me...but wind could be a pain.

So we are considering alternatives--Seward or that Middle Kenai trip.

I'm definitely up for that run if people have a plan to do it later. And we may give it a go anyway. The shuttling does suck either ride separately or pay someone...lose/lose.

I thought about the backward drive but I want to be facing up current I think as I cast anyways with a flyrod. The hydrodynamics of the river scare me a bit too. I'd rather my instinctive reaction point me in the right direction.  Typically I can hug the bank close enough I can cast without stripping line. By adjusting speed I can either drift with the indicator or make multiplied casts into a likely spot.
