I grew bored towards the end of the day Sunday.  There were a few fish being caught here and there, but I wasn't getting any love all day.  On my last pass I decided to test out my new home-made troll housing for my gopro.  The video is a bit wonkey so there are a few adjustments that need to be made, but overall it is working pretty well.  About 16 minutes into using it I get a takedown.  The fish got off, but I was stoked I at least got it on video.  If you look closely, you can see a second fish pass by on the right as this fish came in from the left.

Cheers!

Very cool video.  That spot looked very shallow?  Were you in the bay or in the ocean?

I cut the video for the drop down to the bottom. I was in a bay in about 15-20 ft. of water.

Damn Cool Jeff.  Were you using a standard housing?

That is pretty cool, bonus points would be jaws music timed to the strike.

I was using the dive housing but either one would work with the troll housing I made.

Very nice! I'm glad to see you wings worked.  I recently saw a similar video from the Great Lakes.  You need two GoPros now... One underwater and one focused on the rod during the take down.

The wings actually didn't help as much as I had hoped. I need to change the way the housing is attached to my lead slider/mainline. I am already on top of the other camera angle. ;) I just need a battery that will last six hours.

Here's that video from the Great Lakes.   This is the standard that I want you to surpass next time.  They cheated a bit by attaching the GoPros to downriggers.

Also, what's up with their weird spinning fish flasher thing?

Cool stuff. Do you have a weighted keel on your troll housing? That should help to stabilize it better than wings would. I use a teardrop boat zinc on mine and it works well.

Right now with a BatteryPac and one of the newer GoPro batteries I can get 2 hours 45 minutes of recording time. Also be sure and turn off the little blinking lights on the GoPro in your settings. It buys you another 15 minutes of record time. Every amp is precious.

Keep it up. Looking forward to more videos.
