We'll be heading to the Williamson River later this week, staying for a long weekend.  The house is south of Chiloquin, near the Modoc Point Rd Bridge.  Looking to see if anybody has any experience fishing this stretch, especially from the kayak.  We'd like to do some fishing from the Oasis, along with a couple sit-ins as needed.

I'm especially looking for any suggestions for non-fly fishing.  Will probably spend time trolling down towards Klamath Lake, with typical small water trout gear.  Any specifics would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Sam

I know almost nothing about that river other than there is supposed to be very good fishing for large red-band trout.   It sounds like a great trip and I can't wait to see the report when you get back.

You might want to be prepared for big trout just in case.rainbows and browns in the teens swim there.teens in lbs as well as inches.I might take a few bass top water mouse lures.they have a taste for mice and hoppers in the late summer. Never fished it in a yak you might want to check the levels by you take a kayak that long.

Good river to fish. Be ready for some monster trout, could be 5 to 20 lbs. Also the fish might have sores on them from the leaches in the lake. When the water gets warm in the lake the fish migrate up the rivers. Some think to get rid of the leaches. And check the regulations, the Modoc Pt. bridge is the dividing line for catch and release  certain times of the year. Have a good time.

Thanks for the suggestions - much appreciated!  Looks to be a beautiful area; we're planning on hanging out, visiting Crater Lake, some river exploring in the kayaks, and plenty of fishing!  Hoping to report back with photos of some huge trout!
