Hello everybody! I just went on my first fishing adventure with my newly purchased Field and Stream eagle talon. I've been wanting to do this for about 2 years now and I wish I would have pulled the trigger sooner because I had a great time. I went out on the cowlitz river this morning after a long 12 hr night shift and once I some what figured out what I was doing, I actually caught a fish! It was a wild pissed off steelhead and it has to be the coolest experience fishing I've ever had! I have a feeling that there will be many more to come once I learn the river better and the right techniques. Just wanted to share that and say I've really enjoyed this forum from the time I first started looking into the wonderful world of Yak fishing.

Awesome!  Welcome aboard.  I wished the cowlitz ran on the Oregon side...looks like a great river to fish.  If your looking for a company on the Columbia near longview let me know.

Yeah the Cowlitz is great. It was cool to see a different perspective of it from the kayak. I've only ever fished it from the bank before. I'll have to get back to you on fishing the Columbia after I figure out what I'm doing a little better.

I've been looking for someone to run the cowlitz with.
What section did you run?

I paddled upriver from gerhart gardens boat launch. Got just past the Three Rivers golf course and drifted back down. Next time I'd like to start at Camelot and drift down to Gerhart. Where do you usually go?
