Lee, NWnoob, and I were at it again Fri morn. Thankfully we were able to find fish < 2 miles out this time! Conditions were rough for the first couple of hours, but perseverance paid dividends!! Lee, and NWnoob both lost kings early and finished up with 2 coho and a couple releases. I finished with 2 king and a couple releases as well. Another amazing day on both the ocean and our grills!!

Here's a little collaboration of our footage. Make sure to turn it up too because Mogwai is gonna rock your socks off!!

  Nate, Dick, and Lee,

You guys are killin' it out there. Great job guys.

When you say conditions were rough the 1st couple hours-- are you talking about the surf launch ,swell, and or how it was riding on the way out  ? Your landing conditions were a little "sporty" but certainly do-able. And your on the water shots seemed fairly comfortable.

  Thanks for sharing your adventure.

It was really windy and choppy when we started,  which makes trolling a lot of work.   Around 11 it calmed down and we started hooking up more consistently.   The majority of the keepers were caught within an hour of each other.

The wind started early then died down a bit, so the ocean was really choppy with white caps until close to 10:00. The surf and swell were pretty tame despite my landing fail... You can see the chop best at the beginning of Lee's portion of the vid, but the cameras never do bad conditions justice.

 WOW   :o

 Appreciate the fast responses guys.
Agree about cameras not showing the real picture....
How do you like using divers out there. Lot of drag ???
Rather stick with lead personally. But whatever works......

I will hit the Colombia a few more times then probably start working the Willapa systems. Saves a lot of time and gas for me. I'll post up if it starts getting hot out here. I know a few of you guys like to fish new and hot water .

Good luck out there to all

The divers are great! Bit more drag than a mooching weight for sure, but I believe they've been a key item in our success. Please keep us informed! I'm really looking fwd to the John's River (aka the bay of pigs) opening this year! Didn't have a chance to fish it last season. Trying to make up for it now!

  Soundds good Rav,

Just checked the regs for 2-2 east of John
s River and west of there are kinda tricky. Read them carefully this year.

We all use some type of helmet or other.   I've been using the pro troll e chip.  I don't think the chip does anything, but the way the helmet works is super easy.

Cool video! Thanks for sharing! I still have yet to land a salmon in my yak but haven't tried much. I'll be at the Coho Classic in a few weeks so hope to get my first out there!

Here's my set up. Those are the Dick's helmets that were in our ORC captains bags the last two years.

Thanks for posting the pic, rav. I might try a diver in the sound in next week if I'm having trouble hooking up with a slider/weight set up.
