All the water drops on the camera got me wondering if rainex on the housing would help?  And no I'm not sick of watching coho videos, not yet, especially those that end so well.

I've had the same thought. I'll experiment with that and post the results.

Great vid.  Thanks for sharing!  Rain-X helps but you still need to watch it.

Super tough netting other people's fish.  MUCH easier once practiced to net your own fish.

Great job!!!

Nice video! I will never get sick of salmon vids. I'm going to try the Rain X thing. Wind chop and crazy fish have been ruining some good shots with water marks over the front of the housing lately. I also have an issue with the housing fogging up. I remedied that by putting a piece of paper towel in the back of the housing. I haven't had an issue since.

You're good Randy. Sarcasm doesn't come through in type, but it still reeked of smartass.

All the water drops on the camera got me wondering if rainex on the housing would help?
Many years ago I tried putting Rainex on the lens of a waterproof point-and-shoot camera.  It didn't prevent water drops from forming on the lens, it put a coating on the lens which reduced the quality of the pictures taken by the camera, and it was hard to get off.

I do a lot of photography when kayaking.  For example, see the pictures I posted from kayak trips this August on the Selway River ( http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=13913.0 )
and the Middle Fork of the Salmon River ( http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=14090.0 ).  If you can't keep your lens dry, you are going to end up with a lot of pictures with water drops on your lens, most of which you will end up deleting.  Which really sucks when the picture would have been a great picture if your lens had been dry.  Better solutions for keeping your lens dry are as follows:

Find a way to remove the water from the lens.  I use a little piece of windshield wiper mounted on a plastic stick.  This works well if the glass over the lens is flat, but not if the glass is curved.  It works a lot better when the weather is dry and warm, and not nearly as well when the weather is cool and humid.  A cloth might work, but it's hard to keep a cloth dry, and if you get sand in the cloth, it could scratch your lens.

Find a way to keep the lens dry once you get it dry.  I construct lens covers for my cameras out of scope covers.  Here's an example on my Olympus TG-1:

But I like to run the gopro thrive the surf launch!   RainX shouldn't leave a film if you big it out with water,  as per instructions.

Try RainX out and give us a report.  I tried it many years ago.  They may have improved the formula since that time.  It might work fine now.  GoPro casings are a lot cheaper than cameras, so if the RainX screws up the quality of the GoPro's pictures, and you can't get the RainXS off the lens plate, you can toss the casing and buy a new one.
