Up at 3:45 and out on the water by 04:30, hooked  a big salmon at 05:30 that made about a 50 yard run, turned toward the boat and was gone with the Schwinn....next up was a 101/2  # Chinookie hen that roared around under the boat and came to net. No adipose fin, so into the fish bag it went.  Then caught a nice grill size  coho, and I was done for the morning.  Got home and cleaned the fish, and was surprised to find that the "coho"  was actually a sockeye!!  Only the second sockeye I've caught locally in the salt---used to fish Lake Washington in my canoe back in the 80's, and there was a season most years back then.  Deep ruby-red flesh, destined for dinner.
Also got 3 large male Dungeness last nite---life is good!!

Life is good... I'm jealous.  If my wife finds out someone is actually catching salmon she's going to give me grief for not having done likewise recently.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

I'm coming your way for some salmon fishing sometime soon for sure. Last time I was on Vashon I was fly fishing from the beach and got some good action. There were some waters that I could see that looked sooooo fishy but out of reach from where I was at. I was wishing I brought my yak... Do you ever fish the afternoons? I have some midweek afternoons free next week.

Afternoon fishing is excellent, but I am off to Michigan for a few days, will be back and fishing Friday.  206 463 2671!  Ferries to Vashon about every 30-40 minutes during commute, then every hour or so.  Would love the company, the water on the east side has a bloom right now, should clear in a few days when the nutrients get exhausted (nitrogen runoff from lawn feedings, etc).
