New water opening up on Wednesday-- North River and Smith Creek.
Both of these creeks are tribs of the Willapa Bay. Really beautiful little rivers that get a surprising amount of salmon coming in with fairly liberal limits.
Daily limit 6. Up to 3 adults may be retained...of which only 2 may be wild coho. Release wild Chinook and chum.

Opening day should be fun. It was at Buoy 10. And just maybe....maybe I'll get some nice quality fish(es).
    Stay tuned.............or come on out.

She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Do you have any suggestions for a launch?

The only public launch is at Smith Creek. It is a very short paddle to North River going under the 105 bridge. Here is a link to a map of the area.

The ramp is maintained by WDFW and you do need a Discovery Pass to park there and it is patrolled. It is a 2 lane concrete ramp with lots of parking.

And hopefully --- lots of willing hungry aggressive salmon.
Come on out and give it a try.............

Made it out today but (due to unforeseen circumstances) did not make the "dawn patrol". In fact I didn't get on the water until 10:30. Bad Mark...........
I only fished a couple of hours on either side of a low tide . There are plenty of fish in the river. saw quite a few jumpers though not as many as the upper tide water above Ward Creek on the Willapa. That will probably change shortly...... or not.
Talked to several PB'ers that had caught fish. A red and white bladed spinner trolled behind a rudder about 4' seemed to be the hot ticket. That and being there at the crack of dawn. Several guys said it was so foggy they couldn't even see the 105 bridge from the launch (It's only 30 yards away). I reckon they were fishing by braille.
Next time I go out there it will be on "dawn patrol". I have always had better luck then. Preferably closer to a high tide or at least the top end of an in-coming. But I will be back..............

The fish I did get to see were really nice chrome silvers. And I will get some more.
