My buddy John & I launched at first light above the bridge today.  The tides were backwards so we had 2 miles of paddling against a fast moving outgoing tide to get back nit was tough and I think we won't do that again. The good news is we didn't end up in Japan and we had limits of salmon.

Great pictures Dave. I think I've seen that place a couple of times. ::)

   Oh.... and nice fish too.

Are you and John gonna hit Knappton a few more times ? I probably will.......

Nice photos,daveo !
Yeah the outgoing can be a mother bear....on Monday I was there, had to deal with a fish that swallowed the hooks. By the time I was done re-rigging,I had drifted from shipwreck to the rest area. 20 minutes of hard pedaling got me halfway back...decided to fish there, try to troll back....a ground losing battle. Still amazes me how quickly you can get pushed upriver on the incoming.
Congrats on the fish.

#2 especially is what my favorite photo forum refers to as a "Wallhanger" photo, as in it should be hangin' on one!  All 3 nice but the 2nd is superb...

I will be running down to Knappton Friday morning to give it another shot. Word is the limit has been up'ed to 3 as long as coho are clipped. And that sounds pretty good to me.
High tide isn't until 10 am so being there at daylight should work well. I'm going to guess that I can stay within 500 yards of shore and kick some salmon butt. And I know just the place to do that.
If you haven't fished there yet this year----- now is still a good time to give it a shot. Come on down.

Great pictures.  The coho bite has been off the hook this year.
Good luck this weekend guys.

Take lots of bait. I didn't get any hits on spinners at all on Friday. Jammer and Steve both limited out with Herring.

I decided to try close to Portland since we had weekend guests and time was limited.  Well, that was a bust.  But it was a wonderful day and I trolled while sailing!
