Hey y'all!  I am in the Vancouver, WA area and I am about to give up on bank fishing and join your ranks!  My rivers are the washougal, lewis, Columbia, and sometimes kalama...

OK I am a fly guy that is looking for more opportunity to chase a few fish.  This past Saturday I went out with HOW did a little crabbing and watched others catch a few salmon.  Well needless to say I'm hooked!  I believe my salmon rod is now rigged properly, so now I need a kayak I can call my own.  I have been is several Hobie's and really like the outback.  Once I make the purchase I really want to set it up right the first time, I would imagine several of you have good photos on the right way to set it up, hopefully you wont mind sharing?

Thanks!

Hey welcome Combat Vet..

Are you sure you don't want a paddle kayak? Sorry, Ocean Kayak makes me ask that.... it sounds like you're set on a Hobie. How about a Hobie Revolution 13?  There's one for sale right now from a fellow NWKA member and he's offering a $200 discount to vets (I'm assuming your handle and participation in a HOW event means you'd qualify).   The whole package with lots of extras for you would be only $1400.  It has fin and rudder upgrades, pre-mounted rod holders, etc..

Welcome to the board Sir!

It sounds like you have the fever pretty good. That's awesome.

Sounds like you have a good plan! Hobies are awesome and fairly easy to learn to fish from. Hope to see you on the water!

Nice to see you on the site. It was an awesome day on the water.
You won't go wrong with the outback. In that time before you get one for yourself, give me pm and we can go chase some salmon.

James C.

Sorry, I didn't get your question...  I am looking at an outback or PA for a first Kayak, when I have the money....

Outbacks are a popular choice. Very stable and lots of real estate for mounting all the fun stuff.
