Hi, my name is Eirik. I live in St Johns (close to cathedral park).i have lived in Portland for six years but have only been fishing for two. Until recently most of my efforts have been plunking from the banks of sauvie island and Kelly point park.
About a month ago a buddy invited me to fish the Columbia from his newly acquired tandem hobie. We launched from chinook landing and trolled up to the mouth of the Sandy. We hovered there with with the power boats for an hour or so and waited for the tide to change. Once the tide was headed back out we decided to troll back down hill toward the boat ramp. About half way back I got a tug on my rod. Thinking that I was snagged on the bottom, I yanked back. To my surprise the rod tip began to dance and the drag began to sing as line was neatly striped from my reel. Fish on! A few exciting minutes later we landed a beautiful chinook! My first salmon and my first fish from a kayak.
Needless to say I was hooked. When I got home I started doing research on different boats. After much reading I decided that a revo 13 is what I was after. I found Sinker's add on craigslist (very persuasive, if he is not in advertising he should be). The boat was solid and had many desirable upgrades already done. Perfect! The best part is how nice this guy is. He was super patient with all of my newbie questions and even accommodated a test drive before the deal was final. This was a truly pleasurable buying experience. Thanks Sinker!
Anyway he pointed me in the direction of this forum and encouraged me to join. I've already learned so much from your posts and now that I'm signed up I can use the SEARCH function to get this bicycle boat dialed for springer season. I can't wait to see you folks on the water!

Welcome!  Glad you made it.  I look forward to seeing you on the water.

Let me know if you need any more help getting set up.

I would much rather be up a creek without a paddle than down one.

Great story & welcome to kayak fishing Klickitat! Speaking of Klickitat, I've been wanting to float the upper River in a yak as it holds some giant fish & some of the most beautiful canyon water in the PNW.
Hope to see you on the water & keep on trollin!
