Took some time off last week to explore new rivers and places to fish. Departed West Seattle, drove, paddled and fished the Kilckitat and North rivers & Lake Washington on the return home logging lots of mileage on the car and the kayak with 5 days of paddling. Caught so many sturgeon untintentonally and boy they are a workout on light gear. Caught a bright coho on the Klick and drove towards the coast to meet up with a fellow NWKA.

Met up with Mark on the Smith Creek launch Thursday and what a nice fella. Gave me a bag of his own smoked salmon and took me around North river. We pretty much had the river to ourselves in the morning and the weather was as good as you could ask for. We trolled spinners and later pulled plugs which was successful later in the day netting a nice Rainbow and a solid ten pounder on the Coho. Fished it again the next morning and was rewarded with a fresh bright Coho. Did some Surf perch fishing on Grayland and razor clam digs as well. Burrr!!

Met so many nice people along the way. A big thank you to Mark for taking time to fish the North River.
Good times!

Nice report Hermes. And I agree-- good to meet people fairly new to kayak fishing and to turn them on to new water. I make no claim to guide worth a crap -- but I know some "fishy" areas. And you did a great job landing that silver Thursday. Congradulations. How big was the fish Friday ?

Hope you liked the smoked salmon. Like I said that batch was not my best effort-- but it turned out ok.
Did you end up filling your cooler ? Sounds like you had a very productive "vacation".

Anytime you want to come back down-- just give me a holler. You really should try the upper Willapa River some time this fall. Lots of fish in there. And again ---- it would be some "new" water for you to explore.
Let's "make it happen".

Edit: apologize for the lousy pictures.

 and Poly...... no I'm not.

Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Almost 6 pounds on the scale from Friday. Cooler was filled with 3 silver salmon, 1 rainbow, 2 surf perch and 30 razor clams. Would definitely love to go again and perhaps venture down to the Willapa River. Thanks again Mark!
