Hey Everyone!  I need some help here.  I'm planning on getting up early Saturday to go fish point no point (test out my new down rigger setup at 120' w/ an 8 lb ball... will drift and jig as well).  The last time I fished there was in a PB and it was pretty rough until the slack.  Has anyone fished it a bunch in their yak?  The forecast is for a SSW9-10mph w/ some rain very likely.  I don't mind rain, but I'm trying to stay safe with regards to wind/chop.  Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
ps... anyone interested in going for some blackmouth is welcome to join me:)

Do a search for Point No Point.  Zee used to fish that area frequently for blackmouth.  I think he gives away a nearby alternative as well.

Thanks Mark!  Yeah, I've been enjoying reading up on the area re: the fishing side of things... I'm mostly wondering if a 10mph wind in that area is fairly tame or nasty.

Fyi this link has been pretty useful to me.  Look for the marine forecast link.  Looks like it might be a little dicey on Sat.

Okay, well, the small craft advisory lifts at 6am, sunrise is at 7:30am, 4ish' ebb will be going on.  It's worth a drive out to put eyes on it.  If it looks good, I'll ride the current west from the lighthouse.  Itching to try my new downrigger setup.  Gonna go CK on one rod and jig a green and white dart on the other.... If I launch.  If it's nasty I'll at least have a nice morning ferry ride and a thermos full of coffee and some solitude.

The wind and rain ripped the night before and the night after, but the morning of my trip was flat, calm and toasty.  When the forecast is moderate it's worth it to take a look for yourself.  The only drawback was I didn't cross paths with a Blackmouth.  But in terms of a shakedown cruise for my new downrigger setup it was a huge success.  I will do a post about the cup holder mount I made for my 2014 outback because I think it was very easy to assemble, was super cost effective and it worked flawlessly.  Here's a few quick photos until I can do a proper write up.

Glad the weather let you get out Graham. Doesn't look too bad in the photo.
Interesting mount on the downrigger. Looking forward to details.

Keep at it---- you will get some.

Cool. Yeah, be cautious of that area and when it feels wrong don't feel bad pulling the plug in the trip. The water moves fast out there and always cold.
