I have somewhat of a love hate relationship with this place. It's chock full of fish, but come spring/summer it's also chock full of people of all types since it's located in one of our states most populous areas. Today was not one of those days!! There's been a lot of 20 inch plus trout pulled from there as of late, so I gave it a go with the break in our forecast. While trolling over a long submerged point I noticed a pile of arcs all stacked up on the sonar. A quick change over to a drop shot immediately resulted in a nice bronze back posing for the camera. After this school was exhausted I continued on my search for big trout. I did manage 3 middle 14's, but not the lunker I had hoped for. Anytime you can upgrade a personal best is a win in my book though!! The big girl pictured in the grip and grin went 19.75 inches and 4.9lbs!

That's a bad ass Smallie!  Sounds like you had my favorite kind of day on the water.  No crowds and nice surprise.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.  --Mark Twain

I might need to go out soon. I tried to hit the Snoqualmie over break but it was at flood stage and was to risky. I couldn't have even made it under the bridges.

Thanks! Wasn't sure if I should throw her for a touch down, or tuck her tight and run the play myself! Epitome of a football! Literally counted 3 boats all day, and they were all flycasting to surface feeding trout. There's a hatch blooming on the lake right now with trout slurping bugs all around. Didn't see any sizable fish on the surface though, and surprisingly the fly fishers weren't doing so well.

Probably going again early next week as long as the forecast is good. I'll give you a holla when I make plans.

Man I'm jealous - that's a truly beautiful fish. I don't have the touch targeting them in the winter in this part of the country. Oh well... practice makes perfect!

Nice fish man! Looks like it was pretty foggy out there...A guy in our office fly fishes out there all the time and he caught one pushing ten pounds this last weekend...He caught it on some hand tied special in front of the V.A.

[emoji50] That's a serious bow! I know of a few fly fishermen that have cleaned house out there. I just get so impatient with such a small bug in sooooo much water! I love fly fishing on smaller water, or when targeting a weed line or something. May have to haul the bug wand next trip...

Yeah the guy that caught the hog bow is named Gary...He's sort of a legend out on American Lake....But I agree with you on the bug wand - I need a smaller lake or a river or creek. Another good lake with some BIG fish is Lake Kapowsin. Lots of logs and structure from an old saw mill/whore house that used to be on the island. Lots of big bass and big bows. Also a lot of meth-heads so watch your car and gear.

Ha!   I think I met Gary my first trip to that lake.  I was empty handed and he had an easy 6 pound rainbow in his cooler!  Said he had a record of some sort and had like 6 fly rods on the deck of his boat all ready to go
