In an attempt to make AOTY a little more fun this year, I'm introducing a series of "side challenges".  These will be little mini-AOTY tournaments with a theme and/or slightly messed up rules.   This might take the form of a "Who can catch the most AOTY bass points in the month of June?" or "Who has the most AOTY points for their top 5 salt water species to become the 2015 Salty Dog?"  I'm open to suggestions.

The first one I'm gong to introduce is the "Tiny Fish AOTY Leaderboard".  The Tiny Fish Leader Board is your AOTY for the smallest fish caught. We take the normal AOTY score for your smallest fish and subtract it from 200 possible points.

Catch a 25 inch trout that is normally worth 200 pts, that's great for AOTY, but for the Tiny Fish leaderboard that fish is worth 0 points.

Catch a 2 inch bluegill, it's worth 200 pts - (2 inches * 13 pts per inch) = 174 pts.

Then just like AOTY we rank you based on the sum of your top 10 point earning small fish species to find the Tiny Fish Angler of the Year.

This one is already up and running..

Before you ask, yes I believe you can get negative points.

Lol.  This will be great!

I better get a tad better at identifying salmon and trout fry.  Micro fishing has always fascinated me.

Is a residential fish tank an approved fishery for this competition?

Yes, the fish still have to be legally retainable (AOTY rule #6).

Shakers?  I'm waiting for the fry to absorb the egg sack and whack them the instant they come out of the gravel...

Rudy, you just killed me.  :D

My ancestry gives me an almost unfair advantage I think.  Not so much that the Japanese have been doing this for thousands of years but the fact I know people in Japan that can get me the right gear...lol.

I've got that beat!  A 1-3/8 inch rainbow taken on a #18 caddis... fairly hooked.  Took me five minutes to be sure it wasn't a tadpole.  No photo, so it doesn't count.

 ;D
The fish bite twice a day - just before we get here and right after we leave.
