Good morning all.  I've been fortunate enough to have experienced kayak fishing, thanks to Heroes on the Water (Portland.)  Now, I'm hoping to acquire a kayak soon in order to start giving back in any way that I can.

I'm happy to be on the forums and hope to learn a lot.

Cheers
Scottycap

Very nice to see you signed up on here. Lots of good info. You just need to figure out where you want to fish and start narrowing your choices. Woo-hoo.

Welcome Scottycap.  I am a newbie too.  I've been in a kayak a total of 2 times but that's all it took.  Now I am constantly trolling the classifieds and Craigslist to find an Outback and a drysuit.

Thanks! I know what you're going through. I'm realizing that if I want a specific kind of kayak, a bit of travel might be in order.  "Waiting" has never been a strength of mine. :-)

Welcome!

Welcome to you both.  This is the right time of year for a great deal on a used yak.  I am not sure if the trident in the classifieds is gone yet, but that is a great price.  There is a tarpon there too.  Don't worry about buying the perfect boat just yet, get something that will work, then upgrade.  Most modern, boats, less than 4 yrs old, built for fishing will work fine.  Narrow down what kind of fishing you will actually do, then fins a boat that fits your needs, or close to it.

Your fishing reality is about to change.  >:D

I went out with a couple of friends from on here (INSAYN and bluewrx02) to a local lake in their Hobies and I know what I want now.  I definetly want a Hobie.  Being able to have your hands free is great.  I just need to decide if I want to spend the extra $$ for a new one or save some money and get a used one with the old style seat.  In bluewrx02's outback after a few hours of pedaling around the lake my lower back was starting to hurt so I am leaning more towards the New Outbacks.
