Turned out to be a beautiful day after driving thru some very thick fog on the way to the lake...was a bit worried because I forgot my safety flag and I knew it would be busy. Fog was gone about 5 miles out of Woodland and sun came up with a beautiful sunrise.
Got on the water a little before 7 and wasnt really marking any schools, but starting getting hit right away. Bite died off about 9,but was able to pick up a double at 10:30 to fill my limit.
Fish were shallow, although I used my downrigger at 7 ft just for the practice, plus i just love waiting for that loaded rod to go off! 2nd rod at 50 pulls, no weight.

Nice work.

Hey...about your down rigger placement.   Do you hit your elbow when...if ...you paddle?  How do you have it mounted?

Thanks,everyone....Merwin is a great fishery and a beautiful reservoir. Theres always the chance of hooking a big brooder rainbow or a Tiger Muskie, also.Sunday was a good day for me...i've had my share of watching others catch em while I practice trolling also.

Why don't you use some of that mojo and go for some springers

Whoa! Look who's here :)...dammit,Joe.....get that kayak and lets go get them Springers(wait for March, bud)

nice fish!

Ha!Good eye...just a lazy way of mounting a second rod holder w/o drilling holes....it actually worked out pretty good....gives a couple of angles for the 2nd rod.

Nice work.

OK...this is usually good for a few laughs. This was a "temporary" quick fix before a trip to Odell Lake a couple years ago....been using it ever since.Critics point out that it moves with the milkcrate .....that its not solid. I like that because I can pull it up a little closer when deploying/cranking.Use a 40 oz cannonball and it works pretty good...have caught kokes at 100 ft.
No my elbow doesnt hit...I'm pedaling.

OK......cue pmmpete,lol
